PAINTING WORKSHOPS ON THE GREEK ISLAND OF HYDRA, and Yoga Retreats in Yelapa, Mexico
Hydra, Greece, Sally Tone, May 3-17, 2011
Hydra, Greece, Teresa Vito, Sept. 6-20, 2011
Hydra, Greece, Dianna Ponting, Sept. 21-Oct. 5, 2011
Yelapa, Mexico, Angel Lin, 2011
The workshop is designed by the instructor who brings his/her students to Hydra. The instructor will choose the number of days and hours, which is generally an average of 5 days. Classes are usually en plein air in different locations on the island. All levels of painters are invited. As Hydra has always been an artist’s colony, you will find an infinite number of inspiring spots to paint, in and out of class. We need 10 students to make it work.
On days off, you can swim in the clear blue Aegean, or walk to a remote monastery, or to a mountain village. One day we will take a private boat to a secluded beach for a day of swimming and snorkeling. Perhaps visit the nearby islands of Spetsai and Poros and the Peloponnese.
Accommodations: Our hotel in Athens is located just below the Acropolis and in Hydra we stay in a small, family-run pension one minute from the port.
Price: The package price includes hotel in Athens and Hydra, all transfers (minibus from the airport to the hotel, to the port of Piraeus, to Hydra and return), 2 hydrofoils, the painting workshop and the guide services of Sherie Jakobsson.
Due to fluctuations in the Euro and the U.S.dollar in 2011, we cannot confirm an exact price now. Please call Sherie at 303-494-6020 for an update.
Dates: The dates are determined by the instructor and are usually in the spring and fall. We stay 3 days in Athens and 10 days in Hydra.
Itinerary: We depart Denver and arrive in Athens the following afternoon. We will get settled in the hotel, have a rest and then visit the old town of Plaka at the foot of the Acropolis. That night we will have dinner at a taverna in Plaka. The next morning we will visit the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum. The following morning we take the hydrofoil to Hydra and begin your painting holiday.
Our guide, Sherie Jakobsson, has lived on Hydra for many years, knows the people, bought a house there and speaks Greek. She will introduce you to this magical island, its beaches and monasteries, architecture and villages, tavernas and shops.
Reserve your spot now for the painting workshop of your choice. See "About Us" for dates in 2010 and 2011.
