TEACH PAINTING IN GREECE

Art teachers are invited to bring a group of their students to the island of Hydra for a 2 week painting workshop. Do as others have done and give your students the opportunity to paint the exquisite landscape that is Hydra. It has been an artist’s colony for years and is well suited for all painters in any medium.

Whether you prefer landscape painting, seascapes, architecture, boats of all sizes and shapes, donkeys, horses and mules, flowers, churches, steps, or cats, you will always have an exciting subject.

Dine on the sea

Your group will accelerate enormously in the workshop because you will be in an atmosphere and space where breakthroughs happen every day.

One can’t help but be seduced by the vivid colors, relaxed pace, and lively Greek island culture. We walk everywhere as there are no cars, buses, or motorcycles to clutter your view or destroy your tranquility.

The workshop is yours to design, and you can choose the number of hours and days and the price.

Sherie Jakobsson organizes the package, which includes the accommodations in Athens and Hydra, all transfers and boats, and her guide services.

Students arrange their flight itinerary, possibly using frequent flyer miles, make deviations, etc.

Usually we stay a day and a half in Athens to visit the Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum and the old town of Plaka.  Others have found this a suitable itinerary, but should you wish to stay longer in Athens that certainly can be arranged.

Then we have 10 days on Hydra for the Painting Workshop and leisurely activities such as swimming, hiking to the monasteries high in the mountains, visiting nearby villages, and enjoying the delicious Greek cuisine in tavernas by the sea.

We can take a private boat down the coast for a picnic in a small bay with lots of swimming, snorkeling, maybe diving for octopus and sea urchins.  On another free day, we can visit the nearby islands of Spetsai and/or Poros.

There is also a general description of the itinerary and the Painting Workshop in the brochure, which you can view from the home page and/or download.

Sherie has lived on Hydra for many years, bought a house there, speaks Greek and knows almost everyone on the island.  The groups she has brought have been unanimous in their praise for the island, the people, the cuisine--everything.

Please note that the workshop needs 10 students.
