Come to one of the most seductive and beautiful islands---a place that evokes a time when life was more simple and relaxed. This pristine island has no cars, buses or motorcycles--just the pleasures of walking, swimming, dining in small tavernas by the sea, watching the sunset and, yes, painting.
Immerse yourself for two weeks in the colors and culture of Hydra. The island, with its serene atmosphere, will inspire breakthroughs, taking your painting to new levels.
Port of HydraI believe everyone can find joy by creating art. This is especially true when you travel and try to create an image that reflects what's around you. Time slows down. You are aware of where you are, the sounds around you, the beauty of the light and the variety of smells that are as much a part of the area as what you see in front of you.
I have found that people will approach you as you paint or draw their area. They are thrilled that you find their home so beautiful that you are inspired to create a work of art. They want to talk and share. I have been invited into many people's homes and have been served refreshments because of painting. You are not just a tourist anymore. You become part of the place and you take that feeling with you.
I also find joy in the knowledge of creating with others. It took me
forever to gain this knowledge piece by piece. Not that many artists are able to convey in words what they do and why.
